A mother in Kentucky, USA, was left speechless after discovering her 8-year-old son had ordered 70,000 lollipops worth $4,000 using her phone—without her knowledge.

A mountain of candy

Holly LaFavers was shocked when she found 22 large boxes of candy stacked outside her home. Initially confused, she soon discovered that her young son had placed the enormous order through her Amazon account, intending to distribute the sweets to his friends.

"It was like a sugar avalanche," LaFavers told local media. "When I saw the total cost, I nearly fainted."

Cancelled just in time

The mother managed to cancel the remaining 8 boxes still in transit and arranged to return the delivered items. After a day of calls with Amazon and her bank, LaFavers successfully reversed the charges.

She has since updated her phone’s parental controls to avoid future shopping sprees.
