Large crowds poured into Amasra for the Eid al-Adha holiday, drawn by the district's striking natural scenery and historical landmarks.
Boasting a UNESCO Tentative World Heritage castle, pristine bays, and a famous seafood culture, the town remains a highly popular getaway spot.
In the district, which contains numerous artifacts from the Hellenistic, Archaic, Classical, Roman, Byzantine, Genoese, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods, dense crowds were experienced on the second day of the holiday at the beaches in the Buyuk Liman (Large Harbor) and Kucuk Liman (Small Harbor) locations.
With the air temperature measured at 25 degrees Celsius, vacationers spent time at the Cekiciler Bazaar, Buyuk Liman, Amasra Castle, Kemere Bridge, and Culture Park, taking plenty of photos on the breakwater and rocks.
Melih Saylam, President of the Amasra Culture and Tourism Association, said that: "In Amasra, which has a population of 6,000, the number of daily visitors exceeded 100,000 in the first 5 days of the holiday. Our accommodation facilities are almost completely full."
Saylam told the Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent that all hotels and hostels in the district, which have a total capacity of 3,000 beds, are completely full, and thousands of daily tourists have flocked to the area.
Stating that they hosted a large number of visitors from surrounding provinces, especially Ankara, Saylam said, "Amasra, which is the closest coast to Ankara, is experiencing serious density during this holiday break as well.
The vast majority of those who came were from Ankara. With the high air temperature, there is also great activity and density at the beaches in the Buyuk Liman and Küçük Liman locations."
Saylam explained that despite the measures taken to ensure a trouble-free holiday, long queues formed, particularly at the fish restaurants.
Emphasizing that their fish and salad-oriented culinary culture is highly influential in hosting daily vacationers in every season, Saylam said, "In Amasra, which has a population of 6,000, the number of daily visitors exceeded 100,000 in the first 5 days of the holiday.
Our accommodation facilities are almost full. This density in our district will continue to increase until the end of the holiday break."
