Turkish supermarkets to hold meat prices steady by end of Ramadan

Istanbul and Necessities Retailers Association (PERDER) announced on Monday that will remain fixed until the end of at member supermarkets.

According to a statement from PERDER, ground beef will be sold at ₺379 ($10.61) per kilogram, while diced will be priced at ₺399 throughout Ramadan.

Faruk Guzeldere, the Chairman of PERDER, highlighted that local markets have been running campaigns to reduce and stabilize prices across various product categories throughout the year to shield consumers from .

Meat prices fixed in 2,700 supermarkets across Istanbul

Guzeldere explained that, through a protocol with 's Meat and Milk Board (ESK), they have been providing households with affordable meat for nearly two years. He added:

"Under the protocol we established with the Meat and Milk Board, we are freezing meat prices starting today and continuing until the end of Ramadan. With our network of 66 member markets, nearly 2,700 branches, and approximately 43,000 employees in Istanbul, we reach households across the city."

Guzeldere also noted that prices for premium cuts of meat have been stabilized as well:
"Sirloin will be priced at ₺459, tenderloin and steak at ₺649, and ribeye and beef chops at ₺699. We look forward to gathering with our customers around plentiful tables."

In a move to stabilize meat costs ahead of Ramadan, Türkiye’s Meat and Milk Board (ESK) disclosed on Jan. 23 that it will channel 40,000 live animals into domestic markets, aiming to preempt inflationary spikes during the high-demand holy month.
