Cappadocia's special appeal for Chinese travelers

Jiang highlighted Cappadocia's particular significance for Chinese travelers, noting its status as a must-see destination.

"Cappadocia attracts tourists from all over the world with its world wonder, unique and enchanting historical sites, landforms and rich tourist activities," Jiang said.

"The Chinese people see Cappadocia as an important cultural symbol of romantic Türkiye and a must-visit place. Additionally, Cappadocia is an important stop for travelers along the ancient Silk Road," he added.

Strengthening Türkiye-China tourism cooperation

The ambassador noted that China and Türkiye achieved "remarkable and rich results" in cultural and tourism cooperation. Last year, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation, implementing effective collaboration in areas including:

  • Facilitating tourist infrastructure
  • Increasing flight connections
  • Establishing online promotion platforms
  • Organizing cultural performances

"Recently, the civil aviation authorities of the two countries have significantly increased passenger flight rights," Jiang added.

"In the future, both sides will deepen cooperation in fields such as history, culture, art and archaeology, further enhancing mutual understanding and encouraging more Chinese tourists to visit Türkiye," he noted.

Growing economic ties

Beyond tourism, Jiang emphasized the expanding economic relationship between the two nations. He noted that Türkiye is one of the natural partners of China's Belt and Road Initiative, with the Silk Road historically connecting the two countries.

"Last year, bilateral trade volume reached $48.3 billion, making China Türkiye's second-largest trading partner in the world," Jiang said. "Under the common interest and leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, China-Türkiye relations maintain a positive development trend."

The ambassador, who has served in Türkiye for more than six months, expressed confidence that relations between the two countries will strengthen over time, positively impacting tourism.

Jiang noted that 10 years have passed since the signing of the intergovernmental cooperation agreement under the Belt and Road Initiative framework. He emphasized that both countries have achieved gains through developing cooperation during this period.

"The harmonization of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Middle Corridor Plan has accelerated, bilateral contacts at all levels have multiplied," he said. "Positive progress is being recorded in concrete cooperation in all fields."

The ambassador added that China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Türkiye to help the country achieve green development and rise in the global value chain.
