Ambassador Bilgic accepted the award on behalf of AKM.

In his speech, Bilgic emphasized AKM’s indelible mark on Istanbul’s and Türkiye’s architectural landscape.

He expressed pride in the jury’s selection of it as the concert and theater center of the year.

Recalling the inauguration of the renovated center in 2021, attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Bilgic stated, “Among similar stages worldwide, I firmly believe that AKM deserves this award. AKM provides the highest technological standards and capabilities to host a wide range of artistic performances.

Bilgic also added that the award would enhance Türkiye-Russia relations.

The Istanbul AKM underwent a major renovation and reopened its doors on Oct. 29, 2021, with President Erdogan’s participation. This marked a significant moment in Turkish artistic memory.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Istanbul AKM, as a permanent institution of the arts, welcomes art lovers with a technologically advanced design, including a 2,040-seat opera hall, a 781-seat theater hall, a 410-square-meter AKM Gallery, and a multi-purpose hall.
