Iranian authorities said Monday they uncovered what they described as a drone manufacturing facility operated by Israeli agents in the capital, according to local media reports.
Security forces discovered more than 200 kilograms (440 pounds) of explosives in a three-story building that was allegedly used by "Israeli agents to assemble and store UAVs," the semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported.
Iran's state-run IRNA news agency said two individuals were arrested in separate operations on accusations of spying for Mossad, Israel's intelligence service. Authorities reportedly seized explosives, equipment for 23 drones, and launchers during the arrests.
Iranian state television Press TV reported that another alleged Mossad operative was executed Monday following a trial by Iran's Supreme Court.
The announcements come amid heightened tensions between the two countries. Israeli airstrikes on Friday targeted Iranian nuclear and missile facilities, killing military commanders and scientists, according to Iranian reports.
Iran responded with ballistic missile attacks that reportedly caused Israeli casualties and property damage.
The claims could not be independently verified, and Israeli officials have not immediately responded to the Iranian allegations.
