Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 170 suspects were captured in operations targeting the Daesh terrorist group across 32 provinces over the past two weeks.
Yerlikaya stated that the suspects are accused of previously being involved in activities with the Daesh terrorist group and of providing financial support to the organization.
"In operations conducted by our police against Daesh across 32 provinces, we arrested 170 suspects. These suspects, who conducted activities within the Daesh terrorist organization in previous periods and provided financing to the organization, were arrested in operations spanning the last two weeks. Initially, 10 were arrested. Judicial control measures were applied to 15. Proceedings continue for other suspects," Yerlikaya stated.
The operations were coordinated among the Republic Prosecutor's Offices, the General Directorate of Police Intelligence Department, the Directorate of the Organized Crime Department, and the National Intelligence Organization.
Provincial Police Directorates and Organized Crime Department branch offices conducted the operations.
Operations took place in 32 provinces: Adana, Afyonkarahisar, Amasya, Ankara, Antalya, Aydin, Bolu, Cankiri, Corum, Diyarbakir, Duzce, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Kocaeli, Mugla, Nigde, Ordu, Osmaniye, Sakarya, Samsun, Siirt, Sanliurfa, Tekirdag, Usak, Van, Yalova, and Yozgat.
Yerlikaya praised those involved in the operations, stating, "To ensure peace and stability in every region of our country, we continue our operations 365 days a year, day and night. I congratulate those who contributed to this effort."
