A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Serik district of Antalya on Monday at 1:21 p.m. local time, according to Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The earthquake was centered in Serik district and occurred at a depth of 28.25 kilometers, according to information published on AFAD's official website.
The tremor was felt in surrounding provinces across the region.
Antalya's Provincial Governor's Office reported that initial information indicates no adverse conditions have been detected.
"According to the information received, there is no negative situation. Our field surveys are ongoing. We extend our condolences to all citizens affected by the earthquake," the governor's office said in a statement.
Türkiye's Communication Director Burhanettin Duran provided an update on the government's response to the earthquake, saying, "Our relevant institutions are continuing field surveys and situation assessment work in coordination, and are taking all necessary measures to meet the needs of our citizens."
Duran extended condolences to citizens affected by the earthquake that struck the Serik district and was felt in surrounding provinces. He emphasized the importance of following official statements and avoiding unverified information.
"It is of great importance to follow the statements made by our official institutions and not to give credence to information whose accuracy has not been verified. May Allah protect our country and our nation from all kinds of disasters," Duran said.
