Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud signed a visa exemption agreement in Ankara on Wednesday after the third meeting of the Türkiye Saudi Coordination Council.
The agreement concerns diplomatic and special passport holders from the two countries, according to diplomatic sources cited by Anadolu Agency (AA).
Fidan hosted the council meeting in the Turkish capital, with Prince Faisal and his accompanying Saudi delegation attending the talks.
Türkiye and Saudi Arabia signed the agreement after the third meeting of the Türkiye Saudi Coordination Council, an official bilateral framework bringing the two countries together for high-level diplomatic talks.
Its full title is the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Mutual Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Special Passports.”
The sources did not provide further details on the agenda of the council meeting, the duration of the visa exemption arrangement, or whether other issues were discussed during the talks.
Fidan also met Prince Faisal in Ankara on the occasion of the council meeting, Foreign Ministry sources said.
Photos released by AA showed Fidan hosting the Saudi foreign minister during the Ankara talks, as well as both ministers signing the visa exemption agreement.
No further information was provided on the content of the bilateral meeting.
