A dispute between British tourists and a local shop owner escalated into a violent street fight in the popular resort town of Alanya, leaving several people injured and prompting authorities to temporarily seal the business.
The confrontation began outside a boutique on Ataturk Avenue when what started as a conversation between British tourists sitting near the shop and an employee quickly turned violent. Six British tourists surrounded the shop worker, initially headbutting him before punching and kicking him while he was on the ground, according to local reports.
When nearby merchants intervened to help their colleague, the altercation expanded into a larger street fight. Video footage shows one British tourist picking up a paving stone from the street and throwing it at the shop workers, who defended themselves using umbrellas as makeshift shields. Stones and sticks were thrown during the melee.
The British tourists eventually fled to a nearby hotel for refuge as the situation intensified. Police units were dispatched to the scene as backup, and both sides sustained injuries in the fight. Security cameras captured the entire incident as it unfolded in the Mediterranean resort destination.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while municipal teams temporarily sealed the shop for three days pending completion of the probe. The incident occurred in Antalya's Alanya district, a major tourism hub that attracts millions of visitors annually, particularly from Britain and other European countries.
