Türkiye must build peace, stability and prosperity through its own diplomatic tools in an environment where the international system is blocked and resolution mechanisms are paralyzed, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Monday at the opening of the 16th Ambassadors Conference.
"In this environment where the international system is blocked and resolution mechanisms are paralyzed, we must build peace, stability and prosperity ourselves through our diplomatic tools," Fidan told ambassadors gathered in Ankara under the theme "Foreign Policy That Produces Peace, Stability and Prosperity."
"The era of making policy with concepts produced by others, within boundaries drawn by others, has long ended," Fidan said.
Fidan emphasized that Türkiye pursues a Türkiye-centered, independent and national vision in its foreign policy.
"With our 360-degree perspective foreign policy, we are building a respected and leading Türkiye that produces security and prosperity in its immediate geography, consolidates its order-building role at regional and global levels, has increased its market share and competitiveness in international trade, and can offer its own unique political and cultural contribution to the international system," he stated.
The minister said Türkiye's stance being taken into account in regional equations from the Middle East to the Balkans, from Africa to Central Asia, is no coincidence.
"This is the work of our Foreign Ministry organization that works tirelessly day and night, and the strong political will behind you," Fidan told the ambassadors.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said it has rebuilt its working principles and role within the state on three fundamental pillars.
The first pillar involves maintaining a strategic inventory of Türkiye's various power elements and relationships in foreign policy, functioning like a "data center" that instantly knows and manages available tools in each field.
The second pillar is "position production," with the ministry working on scenarios before crises emerge to determine where Türkiye should stand and where national interests weigh heaviest.
The third pillar involves coordination of all foreign relations, with the ministry serving as a lens focusing the energy of all state institutions on a single point across security, defense, intelligence, technology, economy, trade, energy, transportation, health, culture and tourism.
Fidan stated that what has happened in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, has been recorded as "a black stain" on human history but has also served as a catalyst for global awakening.
"In the face of the genocide Israel is committing in Gaza, Türkiye has been the voice of global conscience," Fidan said, adding that, "Our principled stance on the Palestine issue from the very beginning played a leading role in achieving the ceasefire."
Fidan noted that the two-state solution is now accepted even in Western capitals, attributing this partly to Turkish diplomacy's persistent and principled stance.
"We will continue to work patiently and determinedly to realize the two-state solution vision," he noted.
On the Russia-Ukraine war, Fidan said Türkiye's principle has been clear since the first day.
"'War has no winner, and a just peace has no loser.' With this belief, we have been the country making the most intensive effort to end the war at the diplomacy table," Fidan stated.
"Istanbul still maintains its characteristic as the only platform where the parties can come together at the technical level and discuss the parameters of peace," he noted.
Turkish foreign minister noted that Ankara is ready to take every initiative, play a facilitating role and rebuild the peace table for ending the war through diplomatic means.
Foreign Minister Fidan noted that Syria is another example where Turkish diplomacy stood on the right side of history.
"Looking back, we took one of history's most difficult tests in the Syrian field over the last 15 years. We paid the political and economic cost, but we did not compromise on human dignity," he stated.
"December 8, 2024, became a milestone that opened a new page of hope for the Syrian people. But our work in Syria is actually just beginning," Fidan added.
"Türkiye will resolutely continue to stand by the friendly and brotherly Syrian people in this process," he noted.
