President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on European nations to abandon "ideological barriers" and integrate Türkiye into the continent's defense and security mechanisms, warning that any architecture excluding Ankara is doomed to be insufficient.

Speaking on the changing global dynamics, Erdogan emphasized that the time for Türkiye's inclusion has "long come."

'Captive to narrow agendas'

Criticizing the European Union for its exclusionary stance, President Erdogan questioned the strategic logic of the bloc.

"The world is changing. How much longer can the European Union remain captive to narrow agendas in this era of rapid transformations? It is impossible to understand this," Erdogan said, urging Europe to remove the political obstacles preventing full integration.

NATO's heavy hitter

Erdogan highlighted Türkiye's military prowess as a key asset for the continent, reminding European leaders of the Turkish Armed Forces' standing within the NATO alliance.

"The Turkish army is today one of the largest and most effective armies within NATO," he stated. "We are a country that demonstrates its capabilities in the field, not just one that talks at the table."

He concluded by asserting that Europe cannot establish a "security equation with its feet on the ground" without Türkiye's participation.
