The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly on Wednesday approved a 10% hike in residential water prices following a vote at the ISKI General Assembly, with the new rates set to take effect on June 1, 2025.
Under the updated tariff, the unit price for first-tier residential water use—ranging from 0 to 15 cubic meters (roughly 0 to 3,960 gallons) per month and covering about 85% of households—will rise from ₺42.37 ($1.09) to ₺46.62 ($1.20). Second-tier usage (16–30 cubic meters) will increase from ₺64.58 ($1.67) to ₺71.04 ($1.84), while third-tier consumption (over 30 cubic meters) will climb from ₺93.40 ($2.41) to ₺102.75 ($2.66) per cubic meter.
The price hike also extends to non-residential consumers. For first-tier usage (0–15 cubic meters), the unit price will rise from ₺111.00 ($2.87) to ₺122.10 ($3.15). The second tier (16–50 cubic meters) will increase from ₺117.52 ($3.04) to ₺129.30 ($3.34), while the third tier (51–100 cubic meters) will go up from ₺144.46 ($3.73) to ₺158.91 ($4.11). For usage exceeding 100 cubic meters, the fourth-tier rate will climb from ₺151.03 ($3.90) to ₺166.14 ($4.29).
In addition to the June increase, ISKI’s pricing structure has been adjusted monthly based on the average of Türkiye’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI), as reported by the national statistics agency (TUIK).
