The LBA Systems joint venture between Turkish defense industry pioneer Baykar and Italian aerospace giant Leonardo will make its international debut at the 55th Paris Air Show, marking a significant milestone in Turkish-Italian defense cooperation.
The strategic alliance between Baykar and Leonardo, operating under the LBA Systems banner, represents a fusion of Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) expertise with Italian advanced electronics and system integration capabilities.
The joint venture aims to develop next-generation high-capacity unmanned aerial systems for international markets.
Leonardo CEO and General Manager Roberto Cingolani stated in a promotional video: "The strong synergy between Leonardo and Baykar is the greatest strength of this joint venture. We are bringing together Leonardo's advanced electronics, sensors, cameras and payload technologies with Baykar's advanced UAV platforms of different sizes and capacities."
The Paris Air Show, scheduled for June 16-22, 2025, at Paris-Le Bourget Airport, will host the LBA Systems international launch alongside Baykar's first-ever participation in the prestigious aviation exhibition.
The 55th edition of the world's largest aviation trade show brings together aerospace and defense industry leaders to showcase cutting-edge technologies.
Baykar will participate in Paris Air Show for the first time this year. The company will display three products in the static exhibition area: the Bayraktar Akinci UCAV, Bayraktar TB3 UAV, and the Kemankes 1 Mini Smart Cruise Missile.
The Bayraktar Akinci has high payload capacity and long-range mission capability. The Bayraktar TB3 can take off and land on short-runway vessels. The Kemankes 1 has an AI-supported optical guidance system and operational range exceeding 200 kilometers (124.27 miles).
Baykar Chairman and CTO Selcuk Bayraktar said: "LBA Systems brings together two engineering giants who share a vision. Baykar's battle-tested UAV technologies combined with Leonardo's European system integration experience create a powerful alliance. Let's meet in Paris, connect, and witness these exciting times together."
The LBA Systems partnership aims to develop next-generation high-capacity unmanned aerial systems by combining Baykar's unmanned platforms with Leonardo's payload and system integration capabilities.
Baykar has signed export agreements with 35 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 UAV and 15 countries for the Bayraktar Akinci UCAV. The company is described as the world's largest UAV company.
The partnership will target European and international markets, combining Leonardo's expertise in electronics and sensors with Baykar's unmanned systems.
