A young content creator named Zeynep Cagis became one of the most discussed names in Türkiye this week after social media users claimed she was the same girl reported missing in 2021.
Posts on X (formerly Twitter) compared her current photos on adult subscription platforms with an old missing person notice about a 15-year-old who disappeared near Goztepe Park on Bagdat Avenue in Istanbul. Her family searched widely at the time but found no trace.
The claim that she “reappeared” four years later as an adult content creator spread across news sites and social media, raising public concern over child safety, online misinformation, and the speed at which unverified accusations circulate.
As the debate intensified, creator Zeynep Cagis released a video to respond to the claims.
She said, “Comments claiming that I was abducted are completely unfounded. There is absolutely no such situation. This should already be clear from the content I produce.” She stated that she is 18 years old and that her work is voluntary.
She also urged people not to target those she collaborates with. "These rumours have even reached the person I create content with. So nobody should worry. I am happy with my life and I am an adult," she stated.
Confusion over her age has continued the discussion. Sources noted that while some users argued she is 19 based on the 2021 timeline, others claimed she is 22.
None of these claims has been officially confirmed. Ekonomim reported that her birthplace and family background remain unknown because her public biography contains limited information.
The Ministry of Family and Social Services has allegedly initiated an investigation into whether the online debate is connected to a previous missing child case, as reported by Sozcu.
The issue has drawn national attention because it touches on several sensitive topics in Türkiye:
The unresolved nature of the 2021 missing child case helped the story spread quickly across platforms, where old fears resurfaced without confirmed information.
