Large parts of Istanbul are set to face planned electricity outages over the weekend of Jan. 17–18, 2026, according to schedules released by Bogazici Electricity Distribution Company (BEDAS).
The interruptions, which are tied to maintenance, investment, and safety-related works, will affect dozens of districts on both the European side and outer areas of the city, with restoration times varying by neighborhood.
BEDAS has laid out that the outages are linked to several types of work, including subscriber connections, preventive maintenance, transformer center servicing, network upgrades, and infrastructure renewal.
The company has indicated that all works are being carried out with occupational health and safety standards in mind, and electricity is expected to come back on once the scheduled time window ends for each area.
On Saturday, Jan. 17, planned outages are scheduled across a wide geography. Districts such as Avcilar, Bagcilar, Bahcelievler, Basaksehir, Beylikduzu, Catalca, Esenler, Esenyurt, Eyupsultan, Fatih, Gaziosmanpasa, Gungoren, Kucukcekmece, Sariyer, Silivri, Sultangazi, and Zeytinburnu will see electricity cut off at different hours.
Most interruptions are set to begin in the morning, commonly around 9:00 a.m., and are expected to last until late afternoon or early evening, depending on the scope of work in each neighborhood.
Some outages listed by BEDAS began on Jan. 16 and either continued through the day or were followed by new cuts on Jan. 17 in nearby streets.
These include long-running maintenance in districts such as Bakirkoy, Beyoglu, Kagithane, Sisli, and Sariyer. In a few locations, overnight or early-morning works were also scheduled as part of infrastructure renewal projects.
For most neighborhoods, electricity is expected to be restored immediately after the announced end time of each outage window. BEDAS has not indicated citywide disruptions beyond the published schedules.
Residents and businesses are advised to follow the official BEDAS outage list for street-level details, as exact restoration times may vary slightly depending on how quickly fieldwork wraps up.
