Police captured and detained 940 suspects in a nationwide drug operation targeting drug dealers across 70 provinces over the past 10 days, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Friday.
Authorities also seized 565 kilograms of narcotics and 357,180 drug pills during the coordinated raids.
The operation involved 1,420 teams comprising 3,550 personnel, supported by 13 aircraft and 49 narcotics detection dogs across the participating provinces.
"In our operations targeting drug dealers that have been ongoing for the last 10 days, we seized 565 kilograms of narcotics and 357,180 drug pills. We captured 940 suspects," Yerlikaya stated in a social media announcement on Friday.
Yerlikaya congratulated the governors, the chief public prosecutor's offices coordinating the operations, the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Narcotics Department, and the provincial police chiefs and officers who carried out the operations.
The Interior Minister emphasized the broader significance of the anti-drug campaign, describing it as essential for protecting young people.
"This fight against drugs is a struggle to protect our youth, who are the guarantee of our future," Yerlikaya said.
