President Erdogan offers to host Ukraine-Russia peace talks in call with Macron

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, expressing Türkiye's readiness to host peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, according to a statement from the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate. .

Türkiye ready to contribute to peace process

During the call, bilateral relations between Türkiye and France were discussed, along with regional and global issues. President Erdogan emphasized that a historic turning point has been reached in efforts to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, stressing that this opportunity should be seized.

"We are ready to make all kinds of contributions, including hosting negotiations, to ensure a ceasefire and permanent peace," Erdogan stated during the conversation.

Cooperation on Ukraine's reconstruction

The Turkish leader also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation in carefully managing the processes of initiating permanent peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and rebuilding Ukraine.

The call comes amid increasing diplomatic efforts to find a resolution to the conflict that has severely impacted regional stability and global security.

Bilateral relations discussed

In addition to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, the two leaders reviewed various aspects of Turkish-French bilateral relations and exchanged views on other regional and global matters of mutual concern.
