Türkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) announced on Saturday that new provincial leadership teams will take office in eight provinces following comprehensive performance evaluations conducted after the party's recent congress period.
The leadership changes affect Mugla, Canakkale, Adiyaman, Nigde, Tunceli, Bitlis, Elazig and Ordu, where new provincial chairs and their management teams will begin their duties shortly, according to a party statement.
The party cited inadequate performance levels in provincial operations as the primary factor driving the leadership transitions.
"The fact that our work in the cities remained below our desired level after the congress has formed the main axis of the change process," the AK Party stated.
"These duty changes are being carried out in a manner befitting the courtesy and meaning of our AK Party being not just a political party, but a family struggling together for the same cause," the ruling party noted.
The leadership changes come as the party positions itself for the 2028 elections. The AK Party emphasized that the transitions aim to elevate the party's political presence in these provinces to its highest potential.
"Our main goal is to continue our struggle with our cadres that will achieve the strongest results from the 2028 elections, which we will enter to continue building the Century of Türkiye under the leadership of our General Chairman, our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan," the statement read.
The party characterized the leadership transitions as part of an established tradition designed to strengthen internal cohesion and organizational energy.
"The duty changes in our organizations, as a tradition, will carry the brotherhood among us and the energy in our work to a higher level," party officials noted.
