The Presidential Complex is getting ready for the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, which starts on Tuesday.
It will host 32 NATO members, thousands of diplomats, journalists, and guests. The summit will be on June 7th and 8th.
A media task force of 850 people was deployed for the summit, and around 2,500 journalists are expected in Ankara.
In addition to 1,800 workstations, 40 assembly rooms and over 100 live broadcast points—54 of which are fixed—have been made ready for use.
The Presidential National Library has also begun operating for local and foreign journalists. It is equipped with the technical tools for broadcasting and news feeds.
At the complex, the conference halls for the leaders’ sessions will be used; the areas for bilateral meetings and the sections where joint press conferences will be held have been fitted out with the latest communications infrastructure.
The leaders will discuss the strengthening of NATO’s deterrence and defense capabilities, Euro-Atlantic security, defense spending, strategic objectives regarding the alliance's future, and regional and global security issues.
For summit security, a total of 56,927 personnel—comprising 48,841 police officers, 7,447 gendarmes, and 639 cybersecurity staff—will be on duty.
Furthermore, there will be additional actions for the critical locations in the air and on the ground.
As part of the organization, thousands of staff will be assigned to protocol, security, health, transport, logistics, translation, and technical support services.
In addition to the main program, several side events are also planned to take place during the summit.
