Turkish domestically produced armed drones successfully destroyed targets during the Sea Wolf-I 2025 Naval Exercise, with two Bayraktar TB3 drones launching from TCG Anadolu and a Bayraktar Akinci drone operating from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The Sea Wolf-I/2025 exercise, one of the Turkish Naval Forces Command's largest planned drills, showcased Türkiye's naval power during Distinguished Observer Day, according to a statement from Baykar.

Two Bayraktar TB3 drones launched consecutively from TCG Anadolu, Türkiye's first drone carrier ship, in the Eastern Mediterranean portion of the exercise.

The first aircraft, Bayraktar TB3 PT-1R, struck targets with precision using two MAM-L smart munitions developed by Roketsan in dual salvo shots. The drone returned to TCG Anadolu after completing its mission.

The second drone, Bayraktar TB3 PT-4, destroyed its target with MAM-T munitions, which have higher destructive power and are also manufactured by Roketsan.

The drone then proceeded to Dalaman after the successful strike.

Akinci drone hits 3 targets with different munitions

Simultaneously, a Bayraktar Akinci unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) launched from Turkish Cyprus and reached the exercise area.

The Akinci UCAV struck three different targets successfully with TOLUN, manufactured by Aselsan; the TEBER-82 Guidance Kit, produced by Roketsan; and the KEMANKES-1 Mini Smart Cruise Missile, manufactured by Baykar.

The drone returned to the AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdag Corlu after the successful mission.

Naval Commander: Türkiye building domestic aircraft carrier

Turkish Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercument Tatlioglu evaluated the exercise from TCG Anadolu during Distinguished Observer Day.

"We currently have our domestic and national frigates, corvettes, patrol ships, and landing ships under construction. At the same time, we are currently building our destroyers, our national submarine (the biggest one), and our national aircraft carrier," Tatlioglu said.

Tatlioglu said Türkiye's geostrategic position necessitates a strong naval force.

He noted the Turkish Naval Forces are very powerful, conducting the naval exercise simultaneously in the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and Mediterranean Sea with 92 warships, 66 naval air elements and 16,900 personnel.

New munitions tested during Sea Wolf-I 2025 exercise

Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu observed the exercise from TCG Anadolu alongside Tatlioglu.

"We witnessed together the newly developed TEBER munitions, TOLUN munitions, and KEMANKES munitions that can travel long distances, hitting their targets," Bayraktaroglu said.

Bayraktaroglu said the exercise was successfully conducted with the coordination of the Land, Naval, and Air Forces commands.

He noted they observed the use of new system weapons and equipment during the drill.

"The most important issue here is that for the first time in world history, we witnessed together the TB3 weapon system, which does not exist in any other country, both taking off from the ship and firing ammunition," Bayraktaroglu said.

Turkish Naval Forces present throughout Eastern Mediterranean

Tatlioglu stated that the Turkish Naval Forces developed new tactics with drones entering the naval inventory. He added that the naval forces use both drones and unmanned naval vehicles effectively.

"We are very strong in the Black Sea, Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean as a strategic support element. Especially in the Eastern Mediterranean, we are present at every point with our submarines, warships, naval patrol aircraft and drones," Tatlioglu said.

"The Turkish Naval Forces are adding strength to their power every day and are ready to carry out every mission with superior success," he concluded.
