Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit the United States on Monday, Nov. 10, according to a written statement from Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While the ministry did not disclose further details, Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that Fidan is expected to attend meetings on both bilateral and regional issues.
Turkish foreign minister last visited the U.S. in September, during which he also accompanied President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The visit comes as Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa arrived in the U.S. on Saturday for a landmark official trip. Sharaa, who ousted longtime regime leader Bashar al-Assad late last year, is set to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, the first such visit by a Syrian president since the country’s independence in 1946.
Meanwhile, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Fidan, along with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler and intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, will travel to Islamabad next week to discuss heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Erdogan shared the news during an in-flight press briefing on his return from Baku, where he attended Victory Day celebrations in Azerbaijan.
Erdogan also addressed Türkiye’s regional priorities, emphasizing that preparations are underway to send container homes from Türkiye’s earthquake-hit zones to Gaza. “Ensuring the delivery of urgently needed supplies to Gaza is not merely a matter of aid, but a matter of humanity,” he said.
The Turkish leader said Ankara continues to support the normalization process with Armenia “in synchronization with Azerbaijan,” citing recent progress following Baku’s military victory in Karabakh.
Referring to Sudan, Erdogan stressed Türkiye's active diplomatic engagement to help end the conflict. “We cannot simply watch what’s happening from afar,” he said.
Turning to Türkiye’s defense relations with the United States, Erdogan said positive steps had been taken regarding the long-stalled F-35 fighter jet program during his recent meeting with President Trump. “We hope the promises made will be fulfilled,” he said.
