Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan conducted multiple bilateral meetings with regional leaders during the 58th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The diplomatic engagements included discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, among other officials.
Fidan met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur, Turkish diplomatic sources said Friday. During the meeting, bilateral political and economic issues as well as work in the defense industry area were discussed, according to the sources.
The meeting took place as Fidan visited Malaysia for the ASEAN foreign ministers' gathering.
Fidan met Thursday with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong, on the sidelines of the ASEAN talks, according to a post on X.
The meeting was part of Fidan's broader diplomatic engagement during his visit to Kuala Lumpur.

The meeting and post-ministerial conferences began Tuesday and continue through Friday. Malaysia assumed ASEAN's rotating chair on Jan. 1, 2025.
The ASEAN is a 10-member international intergovernmental organization comprising Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia.
Fidan last participated in a trilateral meeting on July 26, 2024, in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, as part of the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
