Sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry have denied claims that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was targeted in an assassination attempt.

According to ministry sources, reports suggesting that Minister Fidan was attacked during his morning run and that two of his bodyguards were injured are false.

The sources emphasized that the news circulating in some media outlets does not reflect reality. They described the claims as completely unfounded and urged the public not to give credence to such speculation.

Separately, Fidan previously disclosed that he was targeted in an assassination attempt in the past. On May 9, 2025, during a television program, he stated that while serving as the head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), he was poisoned with high doses of arsenic and mercury, allegedly by individuals linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).
