The Turkish government officially rejected claims suggesting that the recent announcement by the PKK terrorist group to disarm and dissolve will lead to constitutional changes involving federalism or autonomous governance within Türkiye.

The announcement followed the PKK's congress, during which it declared the end of its armed campaign and stated that it would cease activities under its current structure. In the aftermath, some speculative reports suggested that this could pave the way for a federal framework within Türkiye’s borders.

In response to these interpretations, the Presidential Directorate of Communications’ Center for Combating Disinformation clarified that no part of the state's response to the PKK’s decision involves negotiations or concessions that would alter the country’s unitary structure. The government emphasized that the ongoing constitutional reform discussions are aimed solely at establishing a more democratic, inclusive, and civilian-oriented constitution.

Authorities emphasized that the national strategy remains focused on eliminating terrorism entirely and that any suggestion of political restructuring in connection with the PKK’s disbandment is unfounded and misleading.

The statement served as a reminder that Türkiye’s state institutions continue to approach the issue strictly through a security and legal framework, without engaging in political bargaining with illegal groups.
