Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization, MIT, captured Talip Guler, a Daesh suspect wanted with a yellow notice, and brought him to Türkiye after tracking his activities in conflict zones, security sources said.
Guler, who used the code name Abdusselam Turki, was active in the structure of the Daesh terrorist organization, including the group’s so-called Türkiye Province network known as the Faruk Office.
MIT’s operation followed intelligence work that identified Guler’s family links, his illegal crossing into Syria, his contacts with Daesh officials and his activities within the organization.
According to information obtained from security sources, Talip Guler is the brother of Kasim Guler, who had operated before 2021 as Daesh’s so-called Türkiye Province chief and the so-called finance chief of Daesh’s Faruk Office. Kasim Guler was captured in Syria and brought back to Türkiye during a 2021 MIT operation.
Following that capture, MIT sustained its tracking of Talip Guler, who was wanted internationally under an Interpol yellow notice. Intelligence findings indicate that Talip Guler illegally crossed into Syria in January 2014, where he operated in close contact with senior network officials, primarily his brother.
MIT tracked him step-by-step as part of its ongoing crackdown on Daesh figures embedded within the group's domestic Turkish network.
MIT determined Guler’s location and tracked his movements before carrying out the operation.
As a result, Talip Guler was captured and brought from conflict zones to Türkiye.
After being brought to Türkiye, in his statement, Guler gave details about his illegal crossing into Syria and his participation in Daesh.
He also described activities he carried out within Daesh together with Kasim Guler, who had previously served as the group’s so-called Türkiye governor and Faruk Office finance chief.
The operation was carried out as part of MIT’s cross-border efforts against Daesh.
