Turkish defense firm Repkon has signed an agreement with Norwegian defense company Nammo to establish a 155-millimeter artillery ammunition filling facility in Denmark as part of the Nordic Defense Cooperation (NORDEFCO) initiative.
The project aims to help restart Denmark's national ammunition production at the Elling plant and support the collective defense capabilities of Scandinavian nations.
The facility will fill explosives such as TNT, IMX-101, and IMX-104 into 155mm shells and support additional high-destruction, next-generation munitions. It is designed for minimal manpower and maximum automation, representing one of the most technologically advanced operations in its class.
The Danish government signed a deal with Nammo as part of those efforts to restart its national ammunition production at the Elling plant. Nammo subsequently signed a contract with Repkon to fulfill its responsibilities under the agreement.
Repkon signed to establish a complete facility to fill TNT, IMX-101, and IMX-104 explosive materials into 155-millimeter artillery ammunition, while also filling other modern, highly destructive and next-generation explosives.
The facility will operate with a small workforce and maximum automation, representing one of the most technologically advanced examples in the world in this field.
Repkon is among the few global firms capable of building integrated ammunition manufacturing, filling, and explosives production plants.
The company has previously signed contracts with the United States, Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan for similar projects.
To meet rising international demand, Repkon acquired Austrian-based Bowas, which operates in Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. Bowas' expertise in military and civilian explosives and ammunition disposal strengthened Repkon's capabilities to meet the growing demands of its customers.
This acquisition enables Repkon to continue operations as the only company in the world capable of establishing metal component production facilities, explosive filling facilities, and explosive production facilities.
Nammo, headquartered in Raufoss, Norway, is one of the world's leading suppliers of specialized ammunition, shoulder-fired weapons and rocket engines.
The international aerospace and defense company operates with a workforce of over 3,700 employees, 27 production plants and operations in 11 countries.
The facility will handle traditional ammunition as well as modern, high-destruction next-generation explosives, positioning itself among the world's most technologically advanced facilities in this sector.
