Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will travel to Belém, Brazil, on Wednesday to represent Türkiye at the leaders’ summit of the 30th U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP30).
During the summit, held Nov. 6–7, Yilmaz is expected to deliver remarks emphasizing the strengthening of joint global efforts in the fight against climate change.
He will also participate in the “Energy Transition” session, where discussions will center on sustainable energy solutions and the global shift toward low-carbon economies.
The broader COP30 conference, taking place Nov. 10–21, marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. Thousands of participants from governments, the private sector, and civil society are expected to attend.
The agenda focuses on transforming climate commitments into tangible actions, ensuring a fair and sustainable transition, and protecting forests, biodiversity, and tropical ecosystems.
Türkiye continues to implement its climate policies aligned with its 2053 net-zero emissions target and updated Nationally Determined Contribution.
The country is also active in multilateral climate diplomacy and has formally applied to host COP31 next year.
