Türkiye has detained Indian drug kingpin Salim Dola in Istanbul, dealing a significant blow to a transnational synthetic drug network linked to the Indian underworld.
Authorities in Türkiye moved in on Dola during a joint operation carried out by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and police units.
Officials indicated that the suspect had been tracked down in Istanbul, where he had been hiding using a fake United Arab Emirates identification document.
Dola was reportedly wanted by Interpol, the global policing body that facilitates cooperation between national law enforcement agencies.
Authorities linked him to the network of Dawood Ibrahim, a figure widely associated with organized crime in South Asia. This connection places Dola within a broader criminal structure that operates beyond a single country.
Investigators said Dola had been concealing his identity with forged documents, allowing him to remain under the radar while moving across jurisdictions.
Officials described the arrest as a major disruption to a multi-state synthetic drug network.
