Türkiye's Presidential Communications Directorate has dismissed as "baseless disinformation" social media claims suggesting the country reached an agreement with China to accept 3 million Uyghurs.

The Disinformation Combat Center, operating under the Presidential Communications Directorate, issued a statement Monday refuting the allegations circulating across various social media platforms.

"The claim that an agreement was made between Türkiye and China to bring 3 million Uyghurs to Türkiye is completely baseless and contains disinformation," the center said in a post on its social media account.

No negotiations or agreements took place

The directorate emphasized that no such agreement or discussions have occurred between the two nations regarding Uyghur resettlement. The statement specifically addressed the widespread nature of the false claims across multiple social media channels.

Turkish authorities called on the public to rely solely on official institutional statements regarding internationally sensitive matters. The directorate stressed the importance of not giving credence to unverified, speculative claims that do not reflect reality.
