Chinese citizens are now exempt from visa requirements for tourist and transit travel to Türkiye, according to a presidential decision published in the Official Gazette late Wednesday.
The decision, approved and signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was issued alongside several international agreements concluded by Türkiye with other countries.
Under the ruling, citizens of the People’s Republic of China holding ordinary passports will be allowed to enter Türkiye without a visa for touristic purposes and for transit, for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
The visa exemption will take effect on Jan. 2.
The decision was published following President Erdogan’s approval and formalized through the Official Gazette.
Meanwhile, according to information provided by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports are still required to obtain a visa from the relevant Chinese diplomatic mission before traveling to the People’s Republic of China.
