Türkiye's Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc announced that 199 suspects have been indicted as part of a sweeping investigation into the use of fake diplomas and forged electronic signatures within public institutions.
In a statement shared on social media, Minister Tunc said the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had launched the investigation on August 13, 2024. A year-long probe revealed that certain individuals had illegally accessed government information systems using fraudulent e-signatures, creating fake records within official databases.
“The investigation was conducted with utmost diligence and included analysis of electronic devices, signal data, HTS records, IP logs, and other forensic evidence,” Tunc stated.
Authorities carried out arrests and detentions at different stages of the probe. Legal action was taken against 220 individuals, with public cases opened against 199 suspects, 37 of whom were arrested, while 150 were placed under judicial supervision.
Tunc emphasized that protecting the integrity of public services and the public’s trust in state institutions is of critical importance. “Let there be no doubt: all necessary legal steps are taken without delay in accordance with the principle of the rule of law,” he added.
The Justice Minister also urged the public not to be misled by disinformation surrounding the investigation and legal proceedings.
