President Recep Tayyip Erdogan participated in a teleconference on Saturday with U.S. President Donald Trump and regional leaders to discuss developments in Iran and the Middle East, Türkiye's Directorate of Communications announced.

The call just occurred before Trump's announcement that a deal with Iran had been "largely negotiated, subject to finalization."

The meeting was attended by Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Jordan's King Abdullah II, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and members of the U.S. Cabinet.

'A just peace has no losers'

Erdogan said Türkiye had always advocated resolving problems through dialogue and diplomacy, and welcomed that the diplomatic process with Iran had reached the level Trump had described.

He said any agreement ensuring free passage through the Strait of Hormuz would support regional stability and ease pressure on the global economy.

He thanked the countries that had contributed to the negotiating process.

"Türkiye is ready to provide all necessary support for the implementation of any potential agreement with Tehran," Erdogan stated.

He added that Türkiye was working to establish peace across the entire region and believed that suitable solutions could be found over time to issues that appear difficult, including the Iranian nuclear issue.

"Türkiye seeks a new era in which regional countries do not pose threats to one another. A just peace would have no losers," Erdogan said.

Pakistan welcomes Trump's 'extraordinary efforts'

In a separate statement issued shortly after the call, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed Trump's role in the diplomatic push and praised Field Marshal Munir's contribution to the mediation effort.

"I congratulate President Donald Trump on his extraordinary efforts to pursue peace and for holding a very useful and productive telephone call earlier today, with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan and Pakistan. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir represented Pakistan in the telephone call and I greatly appreciate his tireless efforts during the entire process," Sharif said.

Sharif said the discussions had provided a useful opportunity to exchange views on the current regional situation and on how to move ongoing peace efforts forward to achieve lasting peace in the region.

"Pakistan will continue its peace efforts with utmost sincerity and we hope to host the next round of talks very soon," he concluded.
