Türkiye's National Security Council (NSC) pledged that the country "will continue to contribute to every positive step toward establishing just and permanent peace" in Gaza, while condemning Israel's policies causing a humanitarian catastrophe, according to a statement released following Tuesday's meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Complex.

The council meeting, which lasted two hours, addressed both domestic security concerns and international developments, with particular focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and regional stability threats.

'Terror-free region' goal reinforced

In evaluating progress toward a "Terror-Free Türkiye," the NSC statement confirmed that "the strong will to completely demolish the terror wall standing before our nation's future and make the climate of peace, prosperity and security permanent has been reaffirmed."

The council emphasized that within the process to be strengthened with the "terror-free region" goal, "no manifestation of terrorism will be allowed in our neighboring geography, and expansion through terrorism grounds will be absolutely not permitted."

The statement specifically referenced operations against PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO and Daesh terrorist organizations, noting that activities against all threats to national unity and survival continue to be conducted with "determination, resolve and success" both domestically and internationally.

Gaza humanitarian crisis addressed

The NSC drew attention to "Israel's illegitimate policies causing humanitarian catastrophe and starvation deaths in Gaza," stating that "stopping the genocide and holding those responsible accountable has become the shared responsibility of all humanity."

The council called on the international community to "urgently take action and materialize the will demonstrated within the United Nations framework," while expressing that "Türkiye will continue to contribute to every positive step toward establishing just and permanent peace."

Cyprus two-state solution emphasized

Regarding what the statement called "our national cause," the Cyprus issue, the NSC reiterated support for "a two-state solution model based on recognizing the sovereign equality and equal international status of Turkish Cypriots."

The council noted that "our country will maintain its determined stance against any steps that could negatively affect the peace environment on the island."

The NSC evaluated actors and issues threatening Syria's territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty, as well as Iraq's security, stability and prosperity.

The statement underlined that "our support for the struggle against efforts to draw our neighbors into regional conflicts will continue to increase."

Regional stability concerns and Russia-Ukraine war developments

The NSC evaluated actors and issues threatening Syria's territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty, as well as Iraq's security, stability and prosperity.

The statement underlined that "our support for the struggle against efforts to draw our neighbors into regional conflicts will continue to increase."

Addressing the current situation regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, the council expressed concern about "incidents indicating risks of the war expanding," stating that "Türkiye is ready to undertake more responsibility for establishing peace."
