Türkiye's Embassy in Tehran issued a security advisory Saturday, Feb. 28, for Turkish citizens in Iran, urging them to stay in safe areas, avoid military zones, and refrain from going outside as joint U.S.-Israeli strikes continue across the country.
"In the context of recent developments, the security situation in Iran is sensitive," the embassy said in a statement posted on the social media platform X.
The embassy advised Turkish citizens in Iran to remain in secure areas, stay away from military sites and buildings, and avoid going outside.
Citizens planning to travel to Iran were advised to postpone their trips except in cases of emergency.
The advisory confirmed that Türkiye-Iran land border crossings at Esendere, Kapikoy and Gurbulak remain open, making it possible for Turkish citizens to reach Türkiye by road.
The embassy provided emergency hotline numbers for all four Turkish diplomatic missions in Iran:
The Tehran Embassy, the Tabriz Consulate General, the Urmia Consulate General and the Mashhad Consulate General all provided dedicated emergency phone numbers and email addresses. Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Call Center is also available at +90 312 292 29 29.
The embassy said further updates would be shared through the ministry's and the diplomatic missions' official websites and social media accounts.
The advisory came as U.S. and Israeli strikes targeted cities across Iran including Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Qom, Tabriz, Shiraz, Bushehr, Kermanshah and Ilam.
Both Israel and Iran closed their airspace. Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency. Iran retaliated with ballistic missiles and drones against Israel and U.S. bases in Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Jordan.
Türkiye shares a 534-kilometer border with Iran to its east. Earlier this week, Türkiye said it was evaluating all potential measures in the event of an Iran-U.S. conflict but categorically ruled out any action that would violate Iran's sovereignty.
