"The Tayfun Block-4 achieves long ranges, setting another record for the Turkish defense industry. Weighing over 7 tons, this new version of the Tayfun, with its multi-purpose warhead, will be capable of destroying numerous strategic targets, such as air defense systems, command and control centers, military hangars, and critical military facilities, from kilometers away," Roketsan said in a statement..
Meanwhile, IDEF 2025 showcases Türkiye’s rise as a sovereign defense power, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday.
“Today, we are not only witnessing the development of the Turkish defense industry, but also the march of a nation toward independence, we are seeing the story of a country rising under its own sky, on its own wings,” said Erdogan, speaking at the opening ceremony of IDEF in Istanbul.
Erdogan added the country has overcome "embargoes, double standards, and diplomatic pressures" to become a global force, leaving a mark on the global market with its defense industry.
Now in its 17th edition, IDEF is among Türkiye’s premier defense industry exhibitions and is drawing a strong international presence this year.
The six-day event, which began Tuesday, features participation from more than 900 domestic and 400 foreign defense firms representing 44 countries. Companies and delegations from nations including China, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan are showcasing advanced defense, aviation, and aerospace technologies.
Leading global firms such as BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Lockheed Martin, and Airbus are in attendance, alongside Turkish defense industry leaders Baykar, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Aselsan, Havelsan, FNSS, Otokar, MKE, and Roketsan.
The fair is exhibiting a wide range of military equipment, including main battle tanks, armored vehicles, electronic warfare systems, tactical ballistic missiles, air defense systems, guided munitions, and unmanned ground vehicles.
The air segment showcases fixed-wing platforms, electronic warfare systems, UAVs, aircraft engines, and satellites, while naval exhibits include surface combatants, support ships, submarines, unmanned maritime systems, and command-control technologies.
The event also features displays on logistics and security technologies, offering visitors a comprehensive look into the evolving landscape of defense and military innovation.
IDEF 2025 is being held at multiple venues, including the Istanbul Fair Center, Ataturk Airport, WOW Hotel, and Atakoy Marina. It is organized by KFA Fairs with support from Türkiye’s Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.
