A 36-personnel contingent from the Turkish Armed Forces' (TAF) 66th Mechanized Infantry Brigade has commenced activities at the Borovac Training Area as part of NATO-Serbia Exercise 2026.
The brigade conducted close-quarter battle drills, urban operations, and joint exercises with the Serbian Military Police, operating Vuran armored vehicles equipped with fully domestically produced weapons systems.
The core of the contingent is an 18-man Motorized Infantry Platoon.
According to a NATO statement, the unit is demonstrating "strict discipline in Close Quarter Battle (CQB) and Urban Operations," with methodical room clearing and dynamic breaching conducted to minimize collateral damage.
Cordon-and-search training, urban warfare training, and checkpoint training have been conducted jointly with the Serbian Military Police team.
The contingent is operating Vuran armored vehicles alongside 100% domestically produced weapons. The NATO statement described the combination as providing "superior mobility and firepower" while "fully complying with NATO interoperability standards," positioning the exercise as a demonstration of indigenous capability operating within the alliance's collective framework.
Planned upcoming activities will test the unit in peace support operations scenarios, including patrols, convoy escorts, checkpoint operations, and non-lethal crowd and riot control drills.
Comprehensive force protection drills against diverse threat types are also scheduled.
