Turkish defense manufacturer SYS Group has signed agreements and memoranda of understanding with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Azerbaijan during the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), further cementing its position as a trusted global supplier of small arms and defense systems.
The Samsun-based company, known for its flagship firearms brand CANiK, held high-level talks with international delegates and defense officials throughout the event. The meetings resulted in several strategic agreements that reflect Türkiye’s growing defense industry outreach.
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense formally initiated a procurement process for 9x19 mm pistols and related accessories developed by CANiK. A letter of intent was signed during the fair, marking the beginning of a structured collaboration process. Both sides expressed mutual goodwill and a commitment to sustainable defense cooperation.
SYS officials described the deal as a major step in deepening regional partnerships, especially with Türkiye’s close allies.
SYS Group also signed a long-term defense supply agreement with Pakistan, a key strategic partner of Türkiye. While the specific terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed, the agreement is part of an expanded procurement program by the Pakistani Armed Forces.
SYS said the new phase underlines the growing confidence in its product range across South Asia.
In a separate agreement, SYS will supply the Bangladesh Navy with new defense systems, including the CANiK M2 QCB 12.7x99 mm heavy machine gun and the VENOM LR, a low-recoil 30x113 mm medium-caliber cannon developed by UNIROBOTICS for counter-drone operations (C-UAS).
The deliveries mark a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s naval modernization. With the recent procurement, nearly 40% of the navy’s M2-type heavy machine gun inventory now consists of CANiK systems, known for their firepower, integration flexibility, and field performance.
SYS Group Board Member Didem Aral highlighted the broader significance of the deals, emphasizing that the company’s international relationships are built on strategic trust, not just commercial interests.
“This year’s agreements with three different countries demonstrate that CANiK is trusted not only on the battlefield but also at the decision-making table,” Aral said. “Our international collaborations clearly showcase the strength of our production and engineering capabilities.”
