Israeli officers challenge chief of staff Halevi’s victory claims in Gaza

As Israel’s operations in Gaza persist since Oct. 7, Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi’s assertions of being “close to victory” have faced criticism from Israeli officers.

According to a report by Israel’s Channel 14, officers stationed in Gaza sent a letter to Halevi, disputing the optimistic portrayal of the situation.

“The situation in Gaza is far from victory,” the letter states, highlighting the ongoing strength of Palestinian resistance groups.

“Palestinian fighters still possess significant power and maintain an extensive tunnel infrastructure,” it noted.

The officers also criticized high-ranking military commanders, arguing that “declarations of imminent victory are completely disconnected from reality.”
