The Israeli army killed 91 Palestinians, including 24 children, in the Gaza Strip since Tuesday night, violating the ongoing ceasefire agreement, medical sources said Wednesday.

Health officials in Gaza told Anadolu Agency that Israeli strikes targeted homes, tents sheltering displaced civilians, a vehicle, a hospital and a makeshift shelter located within the so-called “yellow line.” Dozens more were wounded.

The attacks mark one of the deadliest violations of the ceasefire reached earlier this month under U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan.

Hamas postpones body handover

In response to the renewed Israeli strikes, the Palestinian group Hamas said Tuesday that it had postponed the planned handover of an Israeli captive’s body.

“Any Israeli escalation will hinder search and excavation operations and the retrieval of bodies, which will delay the return of the occupiers’ dead,” the group’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, said in a statement.

Hamas had planned to transfer the remains of an Israeli captive at 8 p.m. local time (6 p.m. GMT) as part of the ceasefire deal.

Late Tuesday, Qassam announced that its fighters had recovered the bodies of two Israeli captives, identified as Amiram Cooper and Sahar Baruch, during search operations earlier in the day. The group did not provide further details, and Israeli authorities have not commented.

Under the first phase of the ceasefire deal, Hamas has released 20 Israeli captives alive and handed over the bodies of 17 others, most of them Israelis. Israeli officials have disputed one of the recovered bodies, claiming it did not belong to any of its captives.

Türkiye condemns ceasefire violations

Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry condemned the latest Israeli strikes as a “clear violation” of the ceasefire agreement.

“Ankara is deeply concerned by reports of civilian casualties resulting from these attacks,” the ministry said in a statement Tuesday, urging Israel to comply fully with the truce “to preserve hopes for lasting peace and regional stability.”

The statement reaffirmed that Türkiye “will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and support efforts toward a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region.”

The Israeli military launched a series of air and artillery attacks across Gaza on Tuesday following orders from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to immediately carry out “forceful” strikes in response to alleged ceasefire violations by Hamas.

The ceasefire agreement, brokered by the U.S. with regional mediation, took effect Oct. 10. The first phase includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, as well as plans for Gaza’s reconstruction and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.

Since Israel began its military campaign in October 2023, more than 68,500 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed and over 170,000 injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
