The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Saturday strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip and what it described as continued violations of a ceasefire, warning that the actions threaten international efforts to restore calm and stability in the territory.

In a statement posted on X, the ministry said it “strongly condemns the attacks carried out by Israel today against the Gaza Strip and its continued violations of the ceasefire.”

The ministry said the strikes come at a time when the peace process in Gaza has entered a new phase and warned that the attacks jeopardize international efforts to establish tranquility and stability in the enclave. The developments, it added, once again show that Israel “does not want peace in the region.”

“We reiterate that Israel must be made to comply with all provisions of the Peace Plan adopted by U.N. Security Council resolutions, foremost the preservation of the ceasefire and the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza,” the statement said.

The ministry stressed the importance of the international community fulfilling its responsibility to advance the peace process.

Israeli actions have killed over 524 Palestinians since a ceasefire took effect in early October. Thirty-seven Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across various parts of Gaza in the past 24 hours, according to Palestinian sources.

Hamas warns of repercussions

Meanwhile, Khalil al-Hayya, a member of Hamas’ Political Bureau and its leader in the Gaza Strip, warned Saturday that Israel’s continued violations of the ceasefire agreement would have serious consequences.

Hamas said al-Hayya held calls with mediators and unnamed international parties after the Israeli army killed 37 Palestinians over the past 24 hours.

Al-Hayya condemned what he described as Israel’s near-daily commission of “crimes and massacres” in Gaza, saying the attacks were carried out under “false pretexts and lies.”

He warned of the repercussions of Israel’s “clear violation” of the ceasefire agreement, stressing that the Palestinian resistance’s commitment to the truce depends on compelling Israel to meet its obligations and preventing further violations.

Hamas also accused Israel of failing to resolve the issue of Palestinians trapped in tunnels in the Rafah area of southern Gaza.

Following the implementation of the Oct. 10 ceasefire, many Palestinians were left stranded in Rafah, while Israel has refused to allow them to leave despite mediation efforts, claiming some were members of Hamas’ military wing, the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades.

Although U.S. President Donald Trump announced in mid-January that the second phase of his 20-point ceasefire plan had begun, unresolved issues related to the truce, including the situation of those trapped in tunnels, remain.

Palestinian groups cite escalation

Separately, Palestinian resistance groups said Israel’s sharp escalation of attacks in Gaza represents a clear attempt to undermine efforts to consolidate the ceasefire.

In a statement by the National and Islamic Forces Follow-up Committee, the groups said Israeli forces have continued to violate the truce, with attacks intensifying after the formation of the Gaza Strip Administration National Committee.

The committee said the attacks peaked at dawn Friday, targeting buildings, shelters and police stations, killing many Palestinians, most of them women and children.

According to the committee, since the National Committee was announced Jan. 17, Israeli attacks have killed 71 people and injured 140 others, most of them seriously.

Gaza has also been subjected to 96 air and artillery strikes, including 61 direct attacks on civilians, with 17 homes destroyed or bombed, the committee said.

The groups urged the United States, mediators and the international community to pressure Israel to halt attacks and end ceasefire violations, warning that continued assaults are obstructing efforts to move toward the second phase of the truce.
