Aymeric Laporte is the focus of Besiktas’ latest transfer plans. Following a 2–0 loss to Alanyaspor, new head coach Sergen Yalcin emphasized the urgent need for reinforcements, prompting the club’s board to pursue a high-profile signing.

The black-and-white side is preparing official negotiations to bring Aymeric Laporte on loan to strengthen their defense. Laporte’s planned transfer to Athletic Bilbao was canceled, as the La Liga transfer window had already closed when Al Nassr submitted his documents. With a need for a new central defender, Besiktas contacted Laporte’s agent.

Laporte’s contract with Al Nassr expires next summer, and with most other leagues’ transfer windows closed, Besiktas’ offer is under serious consideration. The 31-year-old defender is expected to announce his decision soon.

Laporte has previously commanded a total transfer fee of €92.5 million ($107,51 million) and played for Manchester City and Athletic Bilbao.

Athletic Bilbao statement

Athletic Bilbao issued an update regarding the transfer:

"The Aymeric Laporte transfer could not be completed due to circumstances beyond the club’s control. We are still exploring all legal avenues to finalize the deal. If the player does not join Athletic, all agreements will become void, and the club will bear no financial obligations. Details will be shared with members and fans once resolved."
