Cavaliers stun Celtics with 22-point turnaround
The Cleveland Cavaliers staged remarkable comeback, overcoming a 22-point deficit to halt the Boston Celtics’ 11-game winning streak
The Cavaliers rallied out of a 22-point hole to snap the Celtics’ 11-game win streak on Tuesday night.
Third-year big man Evan Mobley left Tuesday’s game against the Boston Celtics with an injury during the third quarter. However, Cleveland was able to rally from a 22-point deficit and eke out a 105-104 victory, which came after a foul call against Jayson Tatum was overturned in the final second.
Mobley’s injury occurred when he landed awkwardly after an uncontested dunk, immediately grabbing his lower leg as he collapsed.
He attempted to jog back down the court, then headed to the bench after the Cavaliers fouled to interrupt the play. Eventually, he limped back to the locker room with a trainer.
Soon after, the team announced that he sustained a left ankle sprain and would not return. Max Strus had been ruled out before the game due to a right knee strain.
The 22-year-old had four points, six rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes.
