Galatasaray dismantled Fenerbahce 3-0 Sunday in a chaotic and at times combustible Istanbul derby at Rams Park, a result that all but ends the Super Lig title race with four matches remaining and puts the hosts on the brink of a fourth consecutive championship.

Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, Baris Alper Yilmaz converted a penalty in the 67th and Lucas Torreira sealed the rout in the 83rd, capping a dominant performance that was aided by Fenerbahce's descent to 10 men and a pair of canceled goals that inflamed an already volatile atmosphere.

The win extends Galatasaray's lead over Fenerbahce to seven points, with the clubs having played the same number of games.

Entering the evening four points ahead of their rivals, coach Okan Buruk's side now needs only to sustain that margin across the remaining fixtures to secure what would be an unprecedented run of consecutive league titles.

A derby defined by early chaos

The match ignited within minutes. A confrontation in the sixth minute drew yellow cards for Fenerbahce's Jayden Oosterwolde and Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, setting the tone for the evening.

Fenerbahce then earned a penalty in the 11th minute after a foul on Sidiki Cherif, but Anderson Talisca squandered the opportunity in the 13th, sending his spot kick wide. It was a miss that would come to define Fenerbahce's night.

Galatasaray grew into the match as the half wore on. A penalty appeal in the 22nd minute for a challenge on Leroy Sane was waved off by referee Yasin Kol.

Osimhen, returning from a fractured forearm that had sidelined him in recent weeks, provided the decisive moment of the first period, finishing from close range off a Mario Lemina assist in the 40th minute. Talisca rattled the outside of the post moments before halftime as Fenerbahce searched for an equalizer, but the visitors went into the interval a goal down.

Red card and disallowed goals unravel Fenerbahce

The second half began with VAR at the center of events. An Osimhen effort in the 54th minute was flagged for offside. Two minutes later, Torreira appeared to double the lead, but that goal too was ruled out for offside after review.

Any hope Fenerbahce harbored of stealing back into the match evaporated in the 62nd minute when midfielder Ederson was dismissed after collecting his second yellow card, reducing the visitors to 10 men. The red card proved pivotal. In the 67th minute, Yilmaz stepped up to convert from the spot, then received a yellow card himself moments later.

Fenerbahce goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir then denied substitute Ismail Yuksek in a one-on-one in the 73rd minute, though it was a consolation gesture in a match that had already slipped away.

Torreira finally added the third in the 83rd minute, finishing off Fenerbahce's resistance before picking up a booking of his own. A flurry of Galatasaray substitutions followed, including the introductions of Ilkay Gundogan and Mauro Icardi late in proceedings.
