Netflix failure strikes controversial Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight

Social media star Jake Paul secured over 58-year-old former Mike Tyson, while Netflix could not cope with erupting traffic worldwide, leaving millions of viewers frustrated.

Millions of users worldwide faced streaming issues during the , leading to a wave of backlash directed at the platform on social media. According to data from the outage tracking website Downdetector, there was a significant increase in complaints from Netflix users starting at 4:20 a.m. (UTC +03:00) on Nov. 16, 2024.

Users reported access issues with , affecting over 100,000 people as of 5:50 a.m. (UTC +03:00). Complaints began to subside around 5:20 a.m. (UTC +03:00).

Netflix has yet to issue an official statement regarding the issue, however, such issues are often attributed to high user traffic during major events.

'It is not over yet,' Tyson says after losing to Paul

In a highly anticipated boxing showdown, YouTuber-turned-boxer beat former heavyweight champion by unanimous decision on Friday night.

The fight took place at in , U.S., and was attended by a crowd of 72,300 fans. Paul controlled most of the bout, with judges scoring the fight 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in his favor.

This victory brings Paul's professional to 11-1, with seven knockouts, and makes him only the sixth fighter in history to defeat Tyson, a Hall of Famer and boxing icon.

On the other hand, Tyson stated, "This wasn't my last fight," while Logan Paul, Jake Paul's brother, expressed interest in facing Tyson in a future bout.

Reportedly, Paul is set to earn $40 million for the fight, and Tyson is to receive half of that amount.
