Istanbul Strait’s maritime traffic suspended due to mechanical failure
Maritime traffic in the Istanbul Strait has been temporarily suspended in both directions because of a mechanical failure on a ship named Cornelia.
The 176-meter-long vessel encountered a breakdown near Besiktas, leading to the immediate deployment of a pilot captain and the tugboat “Kurtarma-9” from the Directorate General of Coastal Safety to assist in the rescue operation.
Consequently, the ship traffic in the Bosphorus has been halted temporarily to facilitate the safe handling of the situation.
