At the extraordinary congress of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Chairman Ozgur Ozel called for early elections, no later than November 2025.

“Next November marks the midpoint of Erdogan’s five-year term and his last chance to run again. If you have the courage, hold the elections then. CHP is ready,” Ozel asserted.

Citing the public’s growing demand for change because of increasing poverty, Ozel added: “Everyone agrees we deserve to be in power and elections should be held as soon as possible for that change. It’s only natural that minimum wage earners, farmers, small business owners, unemployed teachers, and all segments of society want early elections.”

Highlighting the struggles of ordinary citizens, he continued: “This country faces real problems. Pensioners, workers, traders, farmers and laborers are all waiting for solutions. If there is no livelihood, there must be an election.”

People want early elections

Stating that public demand for elections has surged, Ozel referenced polling data: “The expectation for early elections, which was around 25% immediately after the last election, has now exceeded 50%, according to results from two reputable polling firms announced yesterday and the day before.”

He emphasized the growing desire for change, adding: “People want CHP to come to power. The public is now waiting for CHP to lead.”
