President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his election victory during a phone call.
According to a statement from the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, Erdogan held a phone conversation with Putin.
During the call, Erdogan congratulated Putin on his election victory and expressed his belief that the positive trajectory of relations between Türkiye and Russia will continue to strengthen in the new period.
President Erdogan also stated that Türkiye is ready to play any facilitating role in returning to the negotiation table in Ukraine.
Putin won Russia’s election on Sunday, cementing his already tight grip on power in a victory.
The outcome means Putin, 71, is set to embark on a new six-year term that will see him overtake Josef Stalin and become Russia’s longest-serving leader for more than 200 years if he completes it.
North Korea, China, Iran, and Syria also congratulated Putin on his election victory.
