TCG Turkeli conducts exercises with German Navy ship
The Ministry of National Defense announced on its official X account that the TCG Turkeli patrol vessel conducted exercises with the German Navy’s FGS Gromitz as part of the NATO Standing Maritime Group-2 (SNMG-2) mission.
The NATO Standing Maritime Group-2 (SNMG-2) is a permanent naval rapid response force of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). SNMG-2 consists of four to six destroyers and frigates and provides NATO with an immediate operational response capability.
The TCG Turkeli (P-1210), operating under the Turkish Naval Forces Command, is a Tuzla-class patrol vessel measuring 57 meters in length and 9 meters in width, capable of reaching speeds of 26 knots. The vessel is equipped with highly modern weaponry. Its specifications include a length-beam-draft of 56.7 x 8.9 meters, a displacement tonnage of 400 tons, main propulsion comprising 2 diesel engines, 2 shafts, 2 fixed-pitch propellers (FPP), and 2 diesel generators, with a cruising speed of 22 knots. The TCG Turkeli is crewed by 4 officers, 11 non-commissioned officers, 2 specialist sergeants, and 16 enlisted personnel.
