Türkiye-Qatar Gaza ‘Goodwill Ship’ embarks on mission of humanity

Under AFAD coordination, a cargo laden with 1,900 tons of humanitarian aid, including vital supplies, initiates journey towards Gaza from Mersin port

The “Türkiye-Qatar Gaza Goodwill Ship,” prepared under the coordination of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), set sail from Mersin Port at 3:00 p.m.

According to a statement from AFAD, a total of 1,900 tons of humanitarian aid materials, including food, health, hygiene, and shelter supplies provided by the Qatar Development Fund, civil society organizations, and the Ministry of Health, were loaded onto the “Türkiye-Qatar Gaza Goodwill Ship” under AFAD’s coordination.

Following the completion of preparations at Mersin International Port, the ship departed with a ceremony scheduled for 3:00 p.m. It is expected to arrive at Egypt’s El-Arish Port, the closest region to Gaza, approximately 40 hours later.

To date, in cooperation with AFAD, the Ministry of Health, the General Directorate of Foundations, the Turkish Red Crescent, and civil society organizations, a total of 52,016 tons of various humanitarian aid materials have been delivered to Gaza via 13 aircraft and 10 ships.

Additionally, as part of the project to meet the water needs of civilians in the region in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent, 1,735 tons of bottled water have been delivered from Egypt to date.
